How to read this table

Our methodology

Full methodology

Before you open an account

  1. Check the rate on the institution’s website. It may have changed since our last check.
  2. Read the promotion’s conditions. Some only apply to new deposits, or require a minimum deposit.
  3. Look at the rate after the promotion. A low regular rate can cancel out the benefit of a short promotion.
  4. Check deposit insurance. Above $100,000 at the same institution and in the same category, part of your money is no longer covered.
